Week 11: Angular / React – Software Engineering Track

Wrapping up Week 11, our last week of training at Talent Path, we focused on our technical interview preparation. Our instructors helped us to practice whiteboarding and work through programming interview questions as we finished up the training program and became ready for client engagements. We also paired up with our fellow classmates to ask each other questions so that everyone got a chance to solve them as if they were in an actual interview setting.

The first part of the interview process that we prepared for involved whiteboarding, where we wrote out and solve algorithms on a whiteboard without the help of a computer. We got to work through programming interview questions and practice whiteboarding in front of the class while talking through our thought processes. For example, we went over several problems involving string and array manipulation.

We also went over common data structures and algorithms that developers should know. This included anything from knowing the basic JavaScript frameworks to understanding different ways to handle asynchronous events. In a typical interview, we should expect to get a mix of problems to solve, general knowledge questions, and behavioral/experience questions. This interview preparation is definitely beneficial toward helping us land jobs later down the line.

Talent Path offered me the opportunity to gain experience in the technology industry and work on various projects that are common practices in the real world. The most valuable thing I got from this experience was the opportunity to work in teams to build out a full stack application, as we got to take ownership and do all the planning and development ourselves.
