Week 5 of Talent Path – Project Management and The Business Analyst Role
by Ryan Chacko
What a week this has been. I can’t believe the depth of information we are getting into. It is awesome. Week 5 was a very interactive way of learning Project Management and Business Analysis. We learned exactly what we needed to know to properly handle the client and their needs.
We were taught the BA role in a method where instead of just looking at PowerPoints and excessive content, we were put in a real situation where we had to set a meeting in order to get to the end result. We were taught the methodology in conducting a meeting along with the small details that occur when the meeting is happening. We learned how to take highly qualified and objective notes and follow up with our client via email to confirm that all parties are on the same page.
We were given BA training that we could get certified for in the future; a quick yet efficient run down of certain roles that BA’s play in the industry.
The project management life cycle is also something we learned about. The team split each phase of the cycle between each table and we were asked to teach the class. The different groups teaching the class made the learning a great deal more interactive and productive. We had to learn about the importance of gathering requirements in a clear and concise way. Overall, week 5 was a great introduction and run down of the BA and Project Manager role.
I knew this was what I wanted to do with my career and I am so glad that I have found a path to get there. If you are looking for your career path, think Talent Path.
